Scotland train tours on the luxurious Royal Scotsman take you to the heart of the Highlands, through landscapes of pine-clad mountains, reflected in mirror-still lochs. Settle down in a comfortable sofa, or step out onto the open-air veranda, as you glide past castles, villages and glens. Unwind in your luxurious private cabin, or view the scenery in the Observation Car. Inviting en-suite cabins provide a cozy, indulgent space in which to relax and savor the glorious scenery. The train holds just 32 passengers. There are 14 twin, two double and four single State Cabins, all with private bathrooms and showers.
They offer 2-night and 3-night journeys as well as their Classic Journey, a 5-day/4-night trip with visits and tours of Scotland’s most famous castles and historic sites. They also offer vacation packages with hotel stays in Edinburgh, London, and the famous Gleneagles Hotel with its championship golf courses.
There are formal and informal dinners aboard the Belmond Royal Scotsman, usually on alternate nights. For formal dinners, men are encouraged to wear a tuxedo or kilt and ladies a cocktail dress or similar. Dining is always a highlight, with sumptuous gourmet meals served in the mahogany paneled dining cars, accompanied by a range of fine wines, liqueurs and malt whiskies.
