PONANT YACHT CRUISES —

For the last 40 years, Royal Caribbean, with the largest fleet and the largest ships, has redefined cruising.  With so many onboard activities, their cruises offer something for everyone:  the North Star, a capsule that reveals breathtaking 360-degree views as you  ascend 300 ft above sea level, roller skating, basketball, bumper cars, a circus school, zip lining, a 40-ft-long surf simulator, scuba diving lessons in the onboard pool.  They even have an ice rink for ice skating, inline skating, mini golf, a boxing ring, and for fitness buffs, Yoga, Pilates, spinning, sculpting and more.  Classes include dance classes, foreign languages, wine tasting, jewelry making — the list goes on! Great cruise line for families and active, adventurous people of all ages!  Note that many activities are not inclusive and will cost extra.

P&O CRUISES —   

Britain’s leading cruise line, P&O offers guests a choice of eight ships — five family-friendly ships and three exclusively for adults — each offering a very different holiday experience. P&O’s itineraries range from 2 nights to over 100 nights, explore every corner of the globe, and include a variety of theme cruises.  P&O’s brand new flagship vessel, the beautifully designed Britannia, accommodates 3,647 passengers (by far P&O’s largest ship), and offers everything from dazzling West End style performances, comedy and cabaret shows, piano recitals and tribute bands, to themed parties, film screenings, dance and art classes, cooking classes and demonstrations, language classes, Bridge, and even special interest seminars.  The smallest of their eight ships, Adonia is designed to offer a more intimate, relaxing adults-only cruising experience, with 75% of it’s staterooms featuring a balcony.  Radiating small ship charm, she carries just 710 passengers, and is able to explore exotic ports larger ships can’t reach.  These eight ships, with their British style and traditions, like afternoon tea (and mostly British passengers), offer up a nice variety of traditional, British-style cruising.

OCEANIA CRUISES — 

In the category of premium cruise lines, Oceania’s fleet of six elegant mid-size ships are considerably smaller than today’s mega cruise ships, with just 684 guests on their smaller vessels and 1,250 guests on their two larger ships These more intimate upscale cruises feature destination-rich itineraries and a true commitment to 5-star cuisine — boasting “the finest cuisine at sea.”  Oceania is known for top chefs, specialty restaurants with open seating dining, cooking demonstrations, and even Culinary Discovery Tours.  Accompanied by a master chef, guests can tour a winery in Madeira or a fish market in Rio de Janeiro, learn techniques in local cooking classes, then hone their skills at the Bon Appétit Culinary Center!  These adult-oriented cruises offer a relaxed, sophisticated ambiance, with low-key live entertainment (including classical music and jazz), onboard enrichment, smaller casinos, spas, fitness rooms, and extensive libraries.  Ships have spacious suites and staterooms (85% with private verandas), with high-quality Tranquility beds, and 24-hour Butler service in all suites.   With a focus on unique ports and shore excursions, most days ships are docked in port, often departing in the late hours of the evening or even spending the night.

MSC CRUISES —   

One of the more family-friendly cruise lines, this Italian cruise line specializes in classic Mediterranean cruises, authentic Italian cuisine and design, long stays in ports, including off-the-beaten-track ports of call, and very few days at sea.   Their state-of-the-art fleet of 12 ships (with a mostly Italian crew) sail year round in the Mediterranean and seasonally in Northern Europe, the Canary Islands & Morocco, the Caribbean, South America, the Indian Ocean, and South and West Africa.  Have children?  On MSC, kids under 11 sail for free!  Their family-friendly philosophy is reflected in their ‘kids policy’ and MSC’s qualified entertainment staff are on hand all day to entertain and plan activities for your little ones.  Onboard activities for adults include lectures, cooking classes and Italian language classes; theaters with Broadway shows, casinos, discos, and live music; an Aquapark with pools and water slides; libraries, F1 simulator, 4D cinemas, boutiques for shopping, bowling, tennis, basketball, squash, shuffleboard, jogging track, as well as large spas and fitness centers.  In addition, this cruise line with a conscience has won numerous environmental honors, including the Green Planet Award 2008-2009 for its commitment to environmental management and good practice.
